Smell M3 (2021)
Chronic rhinitis patients often experience varying degrees of olfactory and gustatory loss, significantly impacting their appetite and emotions. Can the lost senses of smell and taste be awakened by other senses? Can rhinitis sufferers regain their everyday perception?
This artwork features eight programming models combining visual, auditory, and tactile elements. Different dessert models correspond to the degree of olfactory and gustatory loss based on their sweetness. Visually, various special materials are used to replicate the textures and colors of eight different foods. Auditory elements recreate familiar sounds from daily life that can instantly trigger our memories. The installation aims to evoke cellular memories through a multi-sensory interweaving, seeking to provide a sense of comfort and peace for rhinitis patients.
